| Story: | The nights were always cold here in Lightning Village, and today was no exception. The wind whipped through the trees, howling its midnight song as she walked lone along a beaten path, her head down, hair covering her face, her arms swinging weakly at her sides. She wore a dark blue dress, a black sash around her waist. Her feet were bare, slashed and cut up from the twigs and thorns that littered the forest floor, but she didn't care. The pain in her feet didn't matter, the cold didn't matter, the chilling wind didn't matter. Nothing mattered, not anymore. The path to the village was a long one, and she grew tired of walking, grew tired of trying. If everything was taken away, what more was there to live for? This question ran through her mind one, two, three times and after the third, she stopped walking. She felt the tears brimming in her eyes, but as she put her fingers to her face, her eyes were dry. She could no longer cry, he had taken all of her tears from her only a few hours before. How could he have done this? Him, who was to be the greatest Shinobi in all the land, heir to the Denkai estate, and future Raikage. How ironic, she thought. The man who was to bring the village prosperity and wealth, was the man who would bring it crashing to his feet. She would never make it in time, he was much faster, and whats more, he had drive, he had a goal and she did not. Still, the thought of him bringing his hand against the innocent villagers was heart-wrenching, but it was just too much, she couldn't do it anymore. Going through hell once was quite enough. Thunder echoed across the sky, followed by a flash of lightning. Hes reached the village. She looked up at the sky, and the rains came down. |
